The Look

Hello:

Upon reading the subject of this post you most likely thought of the look you’re most familiar with. Perhaps it was the look a parent gave you when you were a child. Perhaps it was the infamous look a stubborn child used to make. Perhaps it was the crazy eyed look of someone with a wild idea. Whatever look you thought of, it’s clear that a look can carry a lot of meaning.

The Lord has a certain look as well, and almost every service ends with it. The Aaronic blessing comes from Numbers 6:24-26 “The LORD bless you and keep you; 25 The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; 26 The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” When the Lord looks upon you, His blessings follow. The face of our God brings light and peace to our darkened and weary lives. King David spoke of desiring the Lord’s attention and blessing in Psalm 27:9 “Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.”

The Lord’s blessing and attention are crucial to every aspect of our lives for without them every endeavor would end in failure. Crops would not grow without the blessings of sunlight and rain. Businesses would not succeed without the Lord providing the customers. The list could go on and on because the smiling face of our loving and faithful God is needed in every aspect of life. The best part is that the LORD is looking to bless you. He is looking for ways to be gracious to you. He has already done so much for you by paying the price of your sins and he plans to do even more until He completes the promise He has already begun in you.
