Come What May

Good Morning:

“A new year means a whole new year of opportunities” says the optimist. Whereas the pessimist says “A new year means a whole near year of difficulties.” In their own right, both of these statements are true. A new year brings with it new opportunities as well as new difficulties. Come what may this new year, the Lord promises to give strength and peace to all of His children in Psalm 29:11 “The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace.”

The first 10 verses of Psalm 29 detail the mighty strength of the voice of the LORD. Verse 3 “The voice of the LORD is over the waters;” Verse 5 “The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars,” Verse 7 The voice of the LORD divides the flames of fire.” Verse 8 “The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness;” The LORD’s voice commands and it is done. The LORD’s voice is powerful and accomplishes what He wills.

At times what comes in the new year may distress you. You may be shaken about as the wilderness is shaken in the midst of a mighty storm. At times what comes in the new year will gladden and excite you. Whatever may come in the new year, good or bad, through it all the LORD gives strength and peace to His people.

He gives you the strength to endure hard losses. He gives you the strength to hope in the impossible turn around of someone’s life for He has turned around your life already. He gives you the strength to continue carrying your crosses when it seems in vain. He gives you peace from the guilt of old and heavy faults. He gives you peace from the shame of ill spoken words. He gives you peace between yourself and Him through the blood of Jesus Christ, His Only Begotten Son. Come what may in the new year, this strength and peace can never be taken away from you. The voice of the LORD has proclaimed it.
