God’s Love in Creation

God’s Love in Creation

Good Morning:

From the simplest crafts done by children, to the most complicated masterpieces and devices made by esteemed painters, sculptors, and engeineers, the act of creation takes love. The little child in Vacation Bible School can pour her heart and soul into a craft that will typically only last a few months, but her heart and soul turn those popsicle sticks, glue, and felt into something special. The master sculptor pours his dedicated love into a statue that he has been working on for months and will continue to work on for months to come. The love for creating beauty and art shines through both of them just the same. The engineers love of detail and a job well done ensure the bridge will be safe for decades if not longer.

Before there were children in VBS, master artists, or engineers, there was another Creator, the Creator, who poured His love into His masterpiece. For six days, God painted with the colors of creation and molded elements He made to begin with into a masterpiece. His love for His work can be clearly seen in the majestic beauty of a mountain range, the rythmic sound of waves on the seashore, and sweet smell of blooming lily. God’s masterpieces of art and engineering are all around you, and as with all art and engineering they give their creator a reputation. No one would remeber Michealangalo, Da Vinci, Donatello or any of the other great artists from the various genres if their works had not remained to praise their genius. The works of your God also remain to sing His praises. After listing many of God’s creations, the Psalmist says in Psalm 148:5 “Let them praise the name of the LORD, For He commanded and they were created.” (NKJ).

God’s love is evident in all of His creations and it is evident in  as well. He lovingly called you out of darkness and into His most marvelous light. He lovingly restored your soul from the sin sick state of death into the joy filled state of life in Christ. His love is seen in the Resurrection of Jesus as well. Arisen in a glorified body with the full use of the power of the Godhead taken back into His hands, Jesus’ unending eternal life will be given to you as well, for God has said He has a little more creating to do before eternity. “”For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth;” (Isaiah 65:17 NKJ). God will also glorify and make new your bodies (2 Corinthians 5:1). Your glorified bodies with praise the Lord in the new heavens and new earth. Today you praise Him with your words and actions and you tell the world of the love God has shown to you in creating you and saving you. Amen.

Hymn 25 from the Lutheran Hymnal, the first verse.
I will sing my Maker’s praises and in Him most joyful be,
For in all things I see traces of His tender love to me.
Nothing else than love could move Him with such sweet and tender care
Evermore to raise and bear all who try to serve and love Him.
All things else have but their day, God’s great love abides for aye.

In Christ, Pastor Naumann
